What is Shades Dancewear?
Shades Dancewear is an independent, female-founded UK brand that encourages all dancers to embrace their ethnicity and retain their identity from the minute they step into their first dance class. We believe Shades Dancewear will revolutionise the way dancers of all skin tones view themselves in a space that has yet to fully acknowledge inclusivity.
While our dance community continues to lack diverse dancewear, Shades Dancewear bridges the gap and caters for Global Majority dancers and performers of all skin tones. We want every Black, Brown and Global Majority dancer to fully embrace their skin tone by choosing to wear dancewear that truly matches their natural skin.
Each of our Shades is named in honour of a Global Majority pioneer of dance. Currently, our four skin tone shades are Bojangles, Raven, Uday and Pearl, and we hope to add to our collection in the future.
You can find your Shade using our unique Colour Match Swatch, or our brand-new AI technology, Shadify.

How can I find what shade is right for me?
We now offer two ways to find your perfect skin tone Shade!
You can easily use our brand-new AI technology, Shadify, on any device. Shadify will use real-time photography from your devices camera to choose your matching skin tone shade from the Shades Dancewear collection.
Or, we offer a unique Colour Match Swatch that can be ordered for just £2.99. This Colour Match Swatch allows you and your peers to find you skin tone match ahead of ordering any of our products.
We highly recommend for every dance school, studio and shop to keep their Colour Match Swatch on display for all dancers to easily access.
How long will it take to receive my order?
- Standard UK delivery for all Shades Dancewear orders has a delivery time of 2-3 working days.Â
- UK orders £50 and over will automatically qualify for free standard delivery.
- Next Day UK delivery is available for £9.99 and will reach you the next working day if the order is placed before 1PM.
- Orders from European countries will have a delivery time of 4-6 working days.
- All other international orders will have a delivery time of 7-8 working days.
Please ensure you monitor your emails after placing an order to keep up to date with your parcel whereabouts via the tracking number provided.

We open Shades Dancewear Ambassador Applications intermittently throughout the year. Keep an eye on our social media and newsletters to find out as soon as a new round of applications opens.
When our Shades search opens, you can easily apply to become a Shades Dancewear Ambassador by supplying relevant information, such as your age, Shade, location, and why you want to become a Shades Dancewear Ambassador.
